10 Things That Make Me Happy

Akemi from Yes To Me tagged me to write about 10 Things That Make Me Happy. What a great meme to spread gratitude for the many wonderful things in our lives! Without further ado, here are ten things that I love:

Connection To Source Energy
My life flows when I allow Source energy to flow through me. I’m continually profoundly grateful for the presence of Spirit in my life.

My “Roomies”
I share a home with my husband of six and a half years and a funny fluffy thing (aka our cat!). I love my husband deeply, and am always grateful for his support and encouragement of who I am and what I do. The funny fluffy thing keeps me company while I work, and in return allows me to cuddle and snuggle into her fur every now and then. If you’d like to read more about our lives, you’re welcome to pop into our other blog, The Chronicles Of MacNoodle.

Bubble Bath
Baths are good. Baths are even better with bubble bath!

Chocolate
Yum. That’s all I have to say.

Access To Information
I love books. I love libraries. I love the Internet. I love reading. And I love learning.

Bagpipes
You either love ‘em or you hate ‘em. My Scottish heritage ensures that my heart soars every time I hear bagpipes. I don’t care what others may say, the bagpipes are definitely beautiful music to my ears!

Central Heating And Double Glazing
We used to live in South Africa, which is considered a hot country. And it is hot… in summer! In winter it gets pretty cold (down to zero degrees Celcius, sometimes a bit below). Despite this, there is no central heating and no double glazing, thereby ensuring that one wears ten layers of clothes while huddling around a heater or fire to keep warm. I’m therefore a big fan of the central heating and double glazing that we have here in Scotland. The irony is that I feel warmer during winter living in a so-called cold country than I ever did living in a so-called hot country!

The Colour Blue
Blue, in all its many shades, resonates with something deep inside my soul.

Digital Cameras
I’ve always enjoyed cameras and photography, but digital cameras have made this hobby so much more fun! I love being able to see the photo immediately after taking it. I carry a small Sony camera around with me at all times to snap anything that catches my eye.

Clouds
I’ve always been fascinated by clouds. I can watch them for ages, forming and reforming, the interplay of light and shade….

I know the meme is limited to ten things that make me happy, but I’d like to add an honourable mention for the many people in the blogosphere who write such interesting and fun posts, who leave comments on my blog, and with whom I’ve interacted by email. I’ve never met any of you in person (though I intend to one day!), yet you’re all very special to me. Thank you all!

And lastly… to complete the meme, I hereby tag:

Great list, Mags!

The Divine Source -- OMG how could I possibly forget including it in my list!!

About central heat -- I know what you mean. I used to live in Ohio, where it can get below -10 degrees celsius, and I was never cold indoors. Not just in my own house, but in stores, offices, etc -- they take heating very seriously. When I moved to Tennessee, where the low is a bit below 0, they still had central heat but I was often cold in the office. Now I'm in Oregon, my apartment doesn't have central heat. Just tiny heaters in the wall (the temp is about the same with Tenn, but the humidity makes it feel warmer). Nor central air.

Your husband seems to be a good person. I'm glad for you.

I sure like chocolates and clouds too! I'm also an information junkie!! Unfortunately, I was told that too much info doesn't necessarily make me wise....LOL!!

Woo Woo, Mags! You rock. Blue is my favorite, and I'm touched by your tribute to your husband. The lucky guy! Thanks as always for acknowledging my blog. I truly appreciate it.

Hey Mags, you're another chocolate lover, yay! I used to stare at clouds when I was little, trying to figure out if they were rabbits or fairies. It felt really good. You've just brought back some really nice memories for me, thanks! :)

Thanks, Akemi! This was a great meme and I'm grateful that you tagged me with it ;)

Evelyn - sitting outside on a beautiful day, eating chocolate, watching the clouds and reading a book... sheer bliss! (And then we need to go and put that information to use in our lives to develop wisdom!)

Thanks, Mark - you rock too, especially now that I know you love blue too ;)

Irene - It's a pleasure! You know, when we all finally end up getting together, we'd better all bring some chocolate along ;)

Hi Mags, I've really enjoyed reading this post and also the one that Akemi did. Not only are you sharing interesting things about yourself, but you're also reminding your readers of the things that make them happy, which is wonderful.

I love bagpipes too and I really admire those who have the skill to play them.

Also, I know where you're coming from re: the weather. I've lived in a couple of places in Scotland and I now live just over the border and I must agree that we're very well prepared for the cold weather.

Cath - Thank you! As much as I enjoyed doing this post, it's also been great fun reading others' posts and adding to my list as I go through theirs!

Hi Mags my Mom is a war bride from Melbourne and her great-granfather emigrated to Australia from Scotland so it's no wonder that I love listening to bagpipes.

I want to thank you for thinking of me when you tagged me for this meme.
I've finally responded with a post and it's probably not what you expected. But I'm grateful just the same.

Tom - The bagpipes are great! We're looking forward to seeing the Tattoo here in Edinburgh soon!

I had wondered if your post was your version of the meme... it's a wonderful adaptation of the theme!

Mags, thank you so much for 'meme'-ing me. I am only now learning from your post of the existence of such a thing and what it means!

Did you ever see one of the Peanuts cartoons where Charlie Brown and Linus are lying on their backs looking up at the clouds? Charlie Brown feels really good because he can make out little ducks, an aeroplane and a dog or something. Linus, on the other hand, (oh Linus, how you remind me of someone...:-)), commences an exposition of the various historical figures and events he is able to see in the clouds. The strip finishes with a rather bewildered-deflated looking CB!!!

BTW Thanks also for 'following' me on Twitter. I went there to 'follow' up and had no idea how to proceed. I saw a prompt that said you could follow someone by clicking on 'follow' but I couldn't find such a link...
sheeze... I'm beginning to feel neanderthal when it comes to social networks...!

Lucy - A pleasure! I thought you'd be a good fit for the meme's subject matter, though I'll leave it up to you if you'd like to post on it or not!

I love Charlie Brown, though I don't remember that strip specifically. I'll keep my eye out for it!

You'll soon be a Twitter-whiz, don't worry! If you go to someone's profile on Twitter, there's usually a "follow" button there. Or, if you look at the list of followers/following, there's a "follow" button next to each person's profile picture in the list.
